The 21st-century is projected to be the Asian Century. A Century of dominance of Asian politics and culture, assuming certain demographic and economic trends persist. Asia is home to more than half of the world’s population, the region has climbed from low- to middle-income status within a single generation. By 2040, it is likely to generate more than 50% of world GDP, and could account for nearly 40% of global consumption.

Asian Centre for Corporate Governance & Sustainability saw a great opportunity for Asia and India to be one of the major architects of the inclusive & Sustainable Development. Asian Centre, promoted the Mervyn King Academy for Sustainable Development in Asia (MKASDA), as Asia and India will not only be the growth engines for the world but will also be the engines for inclusive & Sustainable Development. Asian Centre for Corporate Governance & Sustainability www.asiancentre.org was established in the beginning of 21st Century, in the year 2001.

The 17 Sustainable. Development Goals (SDGs) and their 169 targets act as the NorthStar for the Mervyn King Academy for Sustainable Development in Asia.
